Life

in Balance

Welcome

Whether you are seeking a therapist for the first time or considering resuming the process with a new therapist, the search for a psychotherapist can be daunting.  Credentials, training and affordability are important criteria when choosing a psychotherapist. However, the most essential, and perhaps, the most elusive qualification, is the chemistry between you and your therapist.   The purpose of this site is to provide you with a sense of who I am and what it is I do as a psychotherapist.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who maintains a private psychotherapy practice in Huntington Village, New York.  In my office I have a bamboo plant that for me symbolizes both flexibility and strength.  During stormy times bamboo yields to and flows with the wind.  If the wind is fierce enough, bamboo bends to the ground.  Yet when the storm passes and the winds calm, bamboo will return to its upright position. From both personal and professional experience,  I've learned that, like bamboo, the human spirit has the ability to cope with great adversity while remaining firmly rooted in the ground.  However, there are times in all of our lives when pain or anxiety or confusion can eclipse our trust in our ability to cope.  Part of the process of psychotherapy is learning new ways to both cope and be with pain, thereby restoring (or perhaps experiencing for the first time) connection to your inner strength and resilience.

As a psychotherapist I view my role  as a variable one depending on your needs. What is constant is that  my primary goal is to create a safe, supportive environment so that together we may explore whatever it is that is causing you difficulty as you move through your life.
